Shopify the Shop Pop-up
For AfroTech 2023, Shopify created The Shop, a bodega-style activation designed to celebrate Black entrepreneurs and showcase a curated selection of Black-owned products. The experience brought the energy and authenticity of a neighborhood bodega to the conference floor, highlighting innovation while emphasizing the accessibility and power of Shopify’s platform.
As Design Lead, I directed the creative vision and execution across the experience, leading a team of 2D and 2D designers to develop cohesive environmental graphics, product displays, and branded touch points. Every element, from wheat paste signage and the inclusion of Black-owned brands to the retail styling, was carefully crafted to feel engaging and culturally resonant, ensuring The Shop functioned both as a dynamic retail space and a meaningful celebration of Black entrepreneurship.
